The Lykens17048 calls we answer most often
If your system is doing any of the following, it is worth a diagnostic before the fault gets more expensive.
Breaker trips every time the system starts
One or two rooms that never reach the set temperature
Musty or burnt smell the first time the system runs
Furnace lights then shuts down after a few seconds
Skyrocketing utility bills with no change in usage
Pilot light or hot surface igniter failing repeatedly
Heating and air conditioning service built around Lykens
Cold winters in the west and humid summers statewide, with lots of older systems due for replacement. Our Lykens teams are set up for exactly that: rapid response, flat-rate pricing quoted before work begins, and no surprise overtime charge for nights or weekends.
Local homeowners often run their system harder than the design intended, especially during June through August. That accelerates wear on contactors, capacitors and blower bearings.
Because Pennsylvania runs gas and oil furnaces with central air, the transition between seasons is when we see the most emergency calls — equipment that sat unused for months.

Lykens17048 HVAC questions, answered
Do you charge extra for nights, weekends or holidays?
No. Our pricing in Pennsylvania is the same at 2am on a holiday as it is at 2pm on a Tuesday. Emergency calls are dispatched the same way as scheduled calls and carry no overtime premium.
Why is my furnace short cycling?
Short cycling in Lykens most often comes from a restricted airflow path — a loaded filter, a closed register, an undersized return — or from an oversized unit. It can also be a failing flame sensor or a pressure switch fault. We measure static pressure and temperature rise before concluding anything, because guessing at this one is expensive.
How much does an HVAC service call cost in 17048?
A diagnostic visit in Lykens typically runs $75 to $150, and that fee is usually applied toward the repair if you approve the work. Repair prices are quoted as a flat rate before we start, so the number you approve is the number you pay regardless of how long the job takes.
What causes water to leak from the indoor unit?
Almost always a blocked condensate drain line, a failed drain pan float switch, or a frozen coil melting faster than the pan can handle. In Lykens we see algae and dust clogging drain lines constantly during June through August. It is a fast fix but ignoring it ends in ceiling damage.
Can you give me a price over the phone?
We can give you realistic ranges — and this page lists the ones homeowners in Lykens see most often — but a firm price needs eyes on the equipment. Any company that quotes a final number without seeing the unit is usually quoting low to get through the door.
Do you service commercial and light commercial properties?
Yes. Around Lykens we handle rooftop packaged units, split systems, VRF/VRV installations and building automation faults for offices, retail, restaurants and multi-tenant buildings, including after-hours scheduling so you are not disrupting trade.
